Improving Eye Health
Dr Carolyn Dean MD ND has written several articles about improving eye health over the course of her career. Here are some highlights:
General Suggestions to Improve Eye Health
- Hydration and Mineral Repletion: Drink ½ your body weight (in pounds) in ounces of water. If you weigh 150 lbs, you will drink 75 ounces.
- Sea salt or Himalayan salt: Add ¼ tsp to every quart of drinking water.
- Add ¾ -1½ tsp ReMyte and 1-3 tsp ReMag to one of the water bottles and sip the mixture every 20 minutes or so, all day long.
- I recommend homeopathic eye drops by a company called Similasan. Before I started using these drops I had tired and burning eyes from all the computer work I do. Also, I have my overhead fans running in the house day and night, and I think that dries out my eyes. I get my Similasan Dry Eye formula from a health food store or Amazon.
- Castor oil drops in the eye! OK, now I’ve really shocked you. But you may know that castor oil is a great poultice for promoting lymphatic circulation. Buy organic castor oil and put it in an eye dropper. At night, while lying in bed, put one drop only into each eye (or have someone do it for you). Two drops will just run out of your eye and make a mess. If it’s difficult for you to put drops in your eye, put a Q-tip in the bottle and run the oil along your upper eyelid. Some of the oil will seep into your eyes while you sleep. What’s the point? Ayurvedic practitioners recommend this remedy to help detoxify the eye area and, therefore, improve eye health.
- Cayenne pepper drops in the eye. Oops, yes, this sounds even worse than castor oil. It’s all a matter of the amount. I’m talking about a pinch of organic cayenne powder in 4 ounces of distilled water. A pinch! Put 1 TBSP of the cayenne water in an eye cup and rinse your eyes. You have to adjust the amount you use or dilute the solution more if it does burn a bit too much. I also put 1/8 tsp of sea salt in the 4 ounces of water to make the water more compatible with the saltiness of eye secretions. Cayenne helps open up the tear ducts. (The small, soft bumps found in each corner of your eyes.) It also improves the blood circulation in the eye.
- A word of warning. It may be difficult to find an eye cup. I recently had to replace my eye cup and couldn’t find one in three different drug stores. I had to buy a bottle of eye rinse that also included an eye cup. For Saline Water, I buy preservative free saline contact lens solution.
- Here’s another eye rinse. Put one drop of RnA ReSet Drops in an eyecup of saline water and rinse your eyes.
Preventing Macular Degeneration
For improving any macular condition, hydration, unrefined sea salt, and all the Total Body ReSet Bundle are important.
- Use the hydration formula noted above.
- Use the whole Total Body ReSet Bundle daily: ReMag, ReMyte, ReAline, ReStructure and RnA ReSet Drops. For even more ammunition against eye problems, add Whole C ReSet, Omega 3 Algae A+E and D3K2.
- Use the RnA ReSet Drops eye rinse twice a day. If you get mucus discharge, which means the lymphatic vessels around the eye are draining, you might cut back to once a day or even every two days
Help Prevent Cataracts
Cataracts may form because of calcification, which is caused by lack of magnesium. The recommendations are the same as protecting against macular degeneration.
- Use the hydration formula noted above making sure you are taking sufficient ReMag: 2-3 tsp a day, not just 1 tsp a day.
